Sholpan Sharbakova

Artist Sholpan Sharbakova began painting at a very early age in her native Kazakhstan. As a child she was encouraged by her parents to make art through painting, music and theatre.
Needing bigger space than paper allowed, she drew her first pictures on the walls in her house. She also started learning piano at the age of four and has always tried to combine these two favourite subjects in her life. Her art works are mainly inspired by everyday feelings, and explore intimate dialogues between her inner world and her outer world, which she believes is only a reflection of her inner one.
Her Style and the techniques she uses to
characterize her paintings are a fusion of grotesque mosaic and contemporary expressionism. In music, on the other hand, she prefers to play Baroque, Classical and Romantic works. Sholpan graduated with honours from the prestigious Gnessins Russian Academy of Music in Moscow and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
